Corporate and Social Responsibility
What is our Goal?
Ford & Slater is committed to contribute to the local and business communities both as a firm and as individuals. CSR plays an important role in the firm's strategic development plan for the future.
Why is it Important?
− To benefit our local communities and improve the environment
− To engage with, and gain a better understanding of, the communities we work and live in
− To encourage team spirit here at Ford & Slater and to have fun!
What are we Doing?
Our staff recorded over 500 hours of voluntary activity during 2011. We joined up with Leicestershire Cares during 2008, an initiative of Business in the Community. These connections have seen our workforce become involved in a wide number of initiatives, including:
− Right to Read
This initiative involves volunteers attending local schools to help children improve their literacy skills and build their confidence when communicating with adults outside their school setting. Fourteen Leicester office volunteers attend the Inglehurst Primary School and Sparkenhoe Primary School.
− Collect 4 Christmas
Every year Leicestershire Cares select a cause for member companies to support through fund raising and/or the donation of gifts. Previous recipients of assistance include Victims of Domestic Violence; Age Concern; Barnardos; Homeless Families and Vista the charity for visually impaired.
− Interview Techniques
This program assists pupils at local schools and colleges, with volunteers providing students with much needed interview technique practice to hone their skills in readiness for the many important interviews they will all soon be facing.
- Volunteering Projects
Our employees have taken part in a number of community-based projects and the company is committed to releasing employees for at least 2 team challenges per annum. The most recent challenge occurred at Revenhurst primary school, Braunstone where 12 volunteers spent a day each clearing a redundant area of the school fields to create an outdoor nature trail.
